Matt Hawkins, a 7-year principal has been a member of the leadership team in Seminole ISD since 2018. He attended Texas A&M University with a degree in Kinesiology, and a Master and Doctoral degree of Education from West Texas A&M University. Dr. Hawkins started his career in Seminole in 2011 as a coach and science teacher.
This prestigious statewide award honors outstanding Principals and Assistant Principals across the twenty Regions in Texas. School administrators are nominated and selected by their peers within their respective Regions, and out of all the finalists, Dr. Hawkins was chosen as the Texas Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year for his exceptional leadership, dedication, and positive impact on student success.
Dr. Hawkins’ leadership style is centered on building strong relationships, fostering student achievement, and supporting teachers. Seminole Junior High is undoubtedly a better place because of his vision, hard work, and servant leadership.
Hawkins has deep roots in education and Seminole ISD. A proud Seminole alum and advocate for student success, he earned his Bachelors degree from Texas A&M, and Masters and Doctoral degrees from West Texas A&M and began his career as a teacher/coach before stepping into leadership roles. In 2018 he was named Assistant Principal of Seminole Junior High, where he has made a significant impact on campus culture and student performance.
